Who are we and what do we do?
The Ferny Districts Cricket Club was established in 1977 to encourage active
participation in the game of cricket in a spirit of good sportsmanship and fair
play. We are a junior cricket club where boys and girls play together in teams
from under 8's through to under 17's. We play non-competitive cricket up to
under 10's where enjoyment and participation are the main goals. Competitive
cricket begins at under 11's and representative players are chosen from under
12's. For those who want to start earlier, we run an excellent In2Cricket
cricket program, which is a Cricket Australia initiative to introduce younger
children to the fun aspects of cricket from ages as early as 5 or 6 years.
Team officials (coaches, managers, scorers) are chosen from parents and
associates within each team and the club provides all of the kit required to
play the game. The club provides a great deal of assistance to team officials,
players and parents with regular coaches and managers nights, access to
coaching courses and resources, scoring schools and a friendly accessible
management committee dedicated to providing the best possible environment for
junior cricket to flourish. We are backed by BNJCA,
Cricket Queensland and
Cricket Australia and have access to a great number of resources from
these bodies to assist us in our role.
Where and when do we play?
Our season runs from approximately mid-October through to mid-March with a
break during the school holidays. Games are played on Saturday mornings and
vary in length depending on the age group (under 8's games usually run from
about 8:00am to 11:00am). Teams usually train for 1 hour on one afternoon
during the week. Ferny Districts is part of the Brisbane Norths Junior Cricket
Association (BNJCA) and we play against other junior cricket clubs in the
northern suburbs.
How do I join and what will it cost?
Joining our club is simple.Just click here to display/download our registration kit. This provides you with details of the upcoming season and alternative methods of registering for the cricketing programs we provide. Follow the instructions and you to will become a Fireball.
For more details on the fee structure of the club, download the current fee schedule

We also have club merchandise for those players who would like to play in the
club colours. Short and long sleeved players shirts and caps as well as
supporters shirts are available from the Cover Point Kiosk at our clubhouse on
a Saturday morning. Those parents/guardians who elect to assist with coaching
and managing a team will receive a discount on a coaches/managers club shirt.
Players are allocated into teams at our pre-season Teams Day and coaches
and managers are selected from the parents who have expressed an interest
to be involved. Players may join the club at any time during the season, given
that we can accommodate them into existing teams. We will do our very best to
ensure players are given a chance to play in the team that they request and
with the players that they know.
